Six things you should know about credit card debt
The current economic slowdown has prompted all of us have a look closer to our finances and think about what would happen if we lose our work. For many people today, the scariest part of this idea is what we could do about our credit card debt. It is so pervasive that few people who have no outstanding card balances one or more credit. Namely what you should know.
1. We are talking about unsecured debt that accrues interest if not paid each month. If you miss a month you can have a late charge and reported to credit bureaus. Missing a payment can remain on your record for seven years!
2. To make matters worse, if you miss a payment to a card of all their other cards can raise your interest rate in what is called a defect "universal." So even if you have paid religiously on a card, you can be beaten with an increase for lack of payment on an unrelated card.
3. Credit card debt starts early. A college graduate leaves the middle school, with more than $ 2,000 in debt. Pay is a hard lesson to learn as you're starting your adult life.
4. Credit cards not bad. It is only the rampant use of that gets us into trouble. You should only collect what we can pay off at the end of the month.
5. Do not wait until you're really over your head to take steps to reduce this debt. Use an online interest calculator to calculate your due date.
6. Many people have used credit cards to stretch their IT budget in this recession. They use them to fill the gap and increasingly using to do things like grocery shopping and pay the mortgage. The problem is that it can take longer than we think if the economy turned.
The conclusion is that we must look at our debt and make a realistic plan to reduce or pay off completely. A default is not something you want on your credit report to look at all options to eliminate your debt credit card. There are several excellent programs out there that will take the worry and stress of being on top of the head in this type of unsecured debt.
