Best way to use a credit card
If you're new to the world of credit cards, then you need to know the basics before moving ahead and choose the right credit card. Although all the terms and companies offering cards can seem confusing at first, if you do your homework then learning the basics takes no time at all. Here are some tips and suggestions regarding the basics of using and a credit card:
Borrowing money
Credit cards are probably the most common form of borrowing money. Credit cards are available at many different sources, both offline and online. There are a variety of different types available, and at first glance can be confusing. However, you need to remember with all the credit cards is that you are borrowing money, and that credit is not free. Once you realize this, then you will be in a better position to get a card that suits your needs.
Interest rates
Unless you intend to pay your credit card bill in full each month, then you need to be aware of the interest rates on the cards. The rate is calculated as April or Annual Percentage Rate. Typical rates in this moment are around 13-18%, depending on the company you choose. Lower interest rates are obviously better, but remember that there can be other charges and such as late fees or transfer, etc. Also, if you will pay the money very slowly, then you should look at other types of lending money, Credit cards have high interest rates.
Pay Your Bill
The options for paying your bill vary and some cards have different requirements. Some cards require payment of the entire bill each month, but most only require you to pay a minimum payment. This is usually around 2% of all the balance. If you are not paying back the card in full each month, and then choose a card that has advantages to it. Some cards offer "cashback" around 0.5% or more, which means you get money every time you buy something.
Fees
Most credit cards have a number of rights be billed. These include fees for late payment, over-limit fees and annual fees for use. If you know you can be late with payments at times, then choose a card with a low rate later. Also, try to avoid cards with annual fees, unless the rest of the package is very good. Some cards have introductory offers, lack of interest or fees on transfers for six months. These cards are good if you need to transfer the debt or you know you can pay the balance during the introductory period.
Debt
Remember, if you are not careful you can get in credit card debt that can be difficult to escape. Spend only what you really can afford, and strive to restore balance as much as you can each month. Credit cards are ideal for emergency situations or to divide the costs of items expensive, and if you know the basics then you will get a better deal on your card.
