On the credit card industry in the United States has placed half of America in a dangerous position. Tennessee has been a hit especially hard as provided hereafter. This major change in philosophy, a conservative debt free society a society almost heavy debt has been driven primarily by credit card companies and the ease with which easy credit put at the gates of all. This, however, is a carefully designed and planned trap. The momentum, mainly due to industry credit cards, cash a society has worked and with it has come a very expensive price.
One result of this change in philosophy is the fact that between 2 and 2.5 million Americans each year to seek help from a credit counselor to help them avoid significant financial loss or bankruptcy. And more shocking is the fact that between 1990 and 2000, the number obtained the assistance of credit counselors doubled. Of those who seek this aid, 75% with credit cards. In cases like this, usually tend to think that is the kind low and / or low income individuals who would be most affected by these brutal statistics. What is interesting is that according to the 2007 Federal Reserve Board Survey of Consumer Finances, 2001-2007 families in 25% of the equity holder that held credit cards was reduced from 45.5% to 41% while families in the top bracket of 10% of net assets held credit cards increased from 22.4% to 30.3%. This is about understanding becomes very important to consider several other statistics. But the bottom line is that the unfavorable statistics mentioned above and below refer a growing number of high end holders of credit cards and a drop in the number of low-income individuals is not a good indicator.

Average · April in credit cards with a balance was 14.31% at December 31, 2009 as reported by the Reserve G19 Federal consumer credit in March 2010.
· Total U.S. revolving debt to 864.4 billion U.S. dollars from January 2010 and 96% debt which is the credit card or $ 829,800,000,000. (See Federal Reserve G19 noted above)
· Total consumer debt U.S. in January 2010 was 2.46 trillion U.S. dollars. (See the report of the Federal Reserve noted above G19)
• The current credit card value default is 11.37%, which is the highest level to date on the Fitch Ratings in March 2010.
• In the last 12 months, 15% of American adults, or 34 million people, have late payments on credit card and 8%, or 18 million people, have missed a payment. (Source: National Foundation Credit Counseling's 2009 Financial Literacy Survey 2009)
• According to the same survey as indicated in the last element, 26% of Americans, or 58 million, admit that they pay all your bills on time.
Now, when we look at the basic statistics are becomes clear how much benefit the credit card companies are facing this new lifestyle called the cashless society. Only numbers only crime as noted above, one can see the excess profits made in the simple assessment of late fees. In fact, penalty fees credit card number about 20.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2009 according to RK Hammer, a consultant in the industry card credit reported in the New York Times, August 2009. This is a great loss to the disposable income of the American public. This one budget heading Americans is easy to see how consumer spending has fallen, not to mention regular payments of principal and interest paid by these credit card holders.
At the time of this writing, I have been unable to obtain the benefits of credit card companies for 2009, but by the year 2008, here are the staggering numbers according to the March 2009 Report Nilson:
- Chase profit $ 780,000,000
- Bank of America benefits $ 520,000,000
- Citi lost $ 530,000,000
- American Express profit $ 850,000,000
- Capital One $ 1.0 billion profit
- Discover benefits $ 710,000,000
- Wells Fargo profit $ 990,000,000
- HSBC profits $ 520,000,000
- U.S. $ 1,070,000,000 Bank profit
As you can see, the average American is stifling under a load of debt that can not be sustained, and in many cases goes bankrupt, however, the benefits of credit card company are beyond the belief. Note here that this is all profit after losses from delinquencies and bankruptcies, this is profit.
